Prior to your intake appointment, you will complete a background questionnaire and other forms for your clinician to review. The initial intake appointment is approximately 90 minutes. During the intake appointment you will meet with a clinician and you will get an opportunity to share about your current concerns, relevant personal history, and goals for treatment. Depending on the age of the client and the reasons for seeking treatment, parents and other relevant supports maybe included in the intake process. The intent of the intake process is to have a solid understanding on what is going on and identify the best ways to support you. In some circumstances, the intake process may take more than one session to formulate a formal diagnosis and comprehensive treatment plan.

Standard treatment sessions are approximately 50 minutes. In addition to the standard treatment appointments, we offer extended treatment sessions and shorter treatment sessions to best support your treatment needs and goals.

Typically, at the beginning of treatment you will meet with your clinician for a standard treatment session weekly or bi-weekly depending on your current treatment needs and goals. Meeting regularly with your clinician in the beginning of treatment is an important component for new skill development and quickly addressing any obstacles or barriers to treatment that may come up. Sessions are spaced out throughout the course of treatment depending on treatment goals and progress. Treatment progress depends on many factors. Consistently attending appointments, active collaboration and participation in sessions, following through on recommendations, and working on treatment goals outside of session are common factors that promote treatment progress. The frequency of sessions can evolve and change over the course of treatment.

We have found that including the family system is an important factor for effective treatment because the family system often unintentionally gets entangled with anxiety, OCD, and related emotional-behavioral disorders. The level of parent or family involvement varies for each individual client. Family involvement can range from brief check ins with parents regarding treatment goals and progress to active family participation to learn specific skills to support treatment goals. We also work with teachers, school counselors, school psychologists, and any other relevant supports when it has been determined with the client and family that it would beneficial to include those individuals in supporting treatment goals. Any system involvement can evolve and change over the course of treatment.

Our area of expertise is in providing psychological and behavioral health treatment so we do not prescribe medication. We work closely with prescribing medical providers (psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, pediatricians, primary care doctors). If you decide you would like to pursue psychotropic medication as part of your treatment, we can provide you with a list of referrals for prescribing medical providers. If you already have a prescribing medical provider, we will collaborate and coordinate care with them.

We are an “out-of-network” practice meaning that you pay the full fee at the time of your appointment. You can request a superbill that includes all of the necessary information required to submit for your out-of-network benefits. We highly encourage you to verify your out-of-network benefits prior to starting treatment. As out-of-network providers, we have greater flexibility in the design and delivery of your care that allows us to really tailor treatment to your specific needs and help you reach your desired goals.

Standard treatment sessions are approximately 50 minutes and the current rate for working with a licensed psychologist is $250.00. Our rates are comparable with other doctoral-level treatment specialist. Treatment duration depends on many factors including the nature and complexity of the problem you want to address and your specific goals for treatment. When working with a treatment specialist you are getting a provider with advanced training and experience to efficiently address underlying core concerns with action-oriented interventions that have proven to be effective. As a result, the total cost of treatment may be a fraction of what you would pay in other treatment settings.
